Refurbished-electronics sellers, independently audited. Certificates anyone can verify.
RefurbCertified audits refurbishers and resellers against 10 published criteria: testing, data erasure, warranty, returns and traceability. Every certificate issued is listed in a public registry that anyone can check for free.
What a certificate attests, criterion by criterion
Every certified company has been assessed against these 10 requirements. The weight shows how much each criterion counts towards the final score; two of them are eliminatory.
Allow 4 to 8 weeks on average, depending on how quickly documents are provided and on audit scheduling. You are kept informed at every stage.
01
Application
You create your account, describe your business and upload your documents: company registration, terms of sale, warranty, testing and erasure procedures.
02
Document review
An auditor with no commercial tie to you reviews your policies and may ask for more evidence.
03
Operational audit
Your actual processes are assessed — testing, grading, erasure, logistics, after-sales — on site or by video.
04
Committee decision
The auditor recommends; the certification committee decides. You receive the decision in writing, with reasons.
05
Certificate and registry
A certificate valid for 2 years, listed in the public registry, with a QR code and verification widget.
Payment opens the audit. It never buys the certificate.
Fees cover organising the audit and maintaining the registry, whatever the outcome. Sales staff have no access to audit files or to committee deliberations.
No. RefurbCertified is a private, voluntary certification. It is not issued by a public authority and does not replace statutory guarantees. Its value rests on published criteria and on every certificate being verifiable in the registry.
A seller shows the badge but I can't find it in the registry. What should I do?
Rely on the registry only. If a website displays the RefurbCertified badge without a matching active certificate, report it using the report form: every report is reviewed by the compliance team.
How much does certification cost?
Pricing is public: an application fee depending on the plan (initial audit included), then an annual audit and a renewal. Every amount is detailed on the pricing page. No payment guarantees a certificate.
What happens if an audit fails?
Organisations receive detailed findings and may reapply after addressing non-conformities.
